30 years after starring in ‘The Wizard of Oz’, legendary performer Judy Garland arrives in London in the winter of 1968 to perform a series of sold-out concerts at the Talk of the Town nightclub, which marked some of her last public performances. She is struggling with a decline in her health, a weakened voice, and the absence of her young family who remained in America. Garland was a bright, yet tragic movie star in Hollywood’s Golden Era. She exuded warmth and spirit, with a rich and exuberant voice that entertained theatre goers with an array of delightful musicals. One of the most iconic film stars of all time, Judy Garland had to overcome challenges in a time when women didn’t necessarily feel that they had the power over their own lives in the way that we do today and she continues to be a household name thanks to her work in beloved films including The Wizard of Oz, A Star Is Born, and Meet Me in St Louis.
Zellweger’s transformation into the icon Judy has been well received with some left in tears following her rendition of the classic song ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’ from the movie Wizard of Oz.
This film premiered at the 2019 Telluride Film Festival where Zellweger received rave reviews for her performance. Based on a loose adaptation of the Olivier-nominated play “End of the Rainbow”.
Starring Renee Zellweger as Judy Garland, with Rufus Sewell and Jessie Buckley.
